Who we are
RadMail is published by GoodEye Photography, sole proprietor Chris Schmauch, based in Santa Cruz, California, USA. Contact: chris@goodeyephotography.com.
What RadMail does
RadMail is an iOS email client for Gmail. It shows your inbox, lets you read, search, organize, write and send email, and keeps your drafts in sync with Gmail.
Signing in with Google
You sign in with your Google account through Google's own sign-in page (OAuth). RadMail asks for these permissions:
- Read, compose and organize your Gmail (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify): to show your mail, mark it read or unread, pin, archive, move, delete, report spam, and save drafts. - Send email on your behalf (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send): to send the messages you write and tap Send on. RadMail never sends anything without your tap. - See your contacts (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts.readonly): to show your contacts' photos next to their mail. - See "other contacts" (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts.other.readonly): to suggest addresses of people you've emailed while you type a recipient. - Your email address (
email): to know which account you're signed in to.
The sign-in tokens Google issues are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. They are never sent to RadMail or anyone else; RadMail uses them only to talk directly to Google's Gmail and People APIs from your phone.
Where your data lives
Your mail, contact names and photos, and your settings are processed on your iPhone and cached only on your iPhone, so the app opens instantly. Every change you make (marking read, archiving, deleting, sending) goes straight from your phone to Google. RadMail has no server that receives your mail content, your contacts or your tokens.
Notifications about new mail are created on your device. RadMail does not run an advertising, analytics or tracking service, and no third-party analytics or advertising code is included in the app.
Optional AI features
AI features are off unless you add your own API key from Anthropic (the maker of Claude) in Settings. Your key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. When you ask RadMail to draft a reply, or to read the date and details out of an email to add it to your calendar, the text of that email needed for the request is sent directly from your iPhone to Anthropic's API, under your own Anthropic account and subject to Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. It does not pass through any RadMail server. Without a key, nothing is sent to any AI provider. The spending meter and monthly cap are calculated and stored on your device.
Calendar
When you choose Add to RadCal or Add to Calendar on an email, the event details are handed to the RadCal app or to iOS's own Add Event screen on your device. You confirm the event there.
Google API Services User Data Policy
RadMail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular, RadMail:
- uses Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing email features you see in the app;
- does not transfer Google user data to others, except to Anthropic when you have added your own key and ask for an AI feature, as described above, or as required by law;
- does not use Google user data for advertising, and does not sell it;
- does not allow any person to read your mail. No human at RadMail can access it, because it never leaves your device except to go to Google or, at your request, to your AI provider.
What we don't do
- No ads.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No analytics, tracking or profiling.
- No RadMail account and no RadMail server holding your mail.
Deleting your data
- Sign out in RadMail's Settings to remove your Google tokens from the device.
- Delete the app to remove everything RadMail cached on your iPhone.
- Revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Your mail itself stays in your Gmail account, which Google controls. Deleting RadMail doesn't delete any email.
Children
RadMail is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
